“I am a Portland native and have owned my home for over 17 years. In January of 2022 my husband had passed. I was left widowed and a single mother of two. I was looking for help within the community for repairs on my home and that is when I found Randal’s program assisting disadvantaged homeowners. Initially, when I reached out they were still waiting for funding but once they received funding, he actually reached back out to me.

I received much needed help during a very difficult time in my life. Randal connected me with a very knowledgeable contractor by the name of Sara. She was very professional and she treated my home and myself with such respect. I had many projects that I needed help with that I had neglected to take care of throughout the years. Sara was able to help me finish my partly built fence, electrical outlet repairs, installation of smoke detectors, water damaged flooring repair, replacement of unsafe stairway and some other miscellaneous items. I also got my rotting deck replaced as well by youth builders and a  shout out to them!

Overall, I was very impressed with the entire experience. Everything was handled so very professionally. I appreciated the help that was given to me and I am honored that my family was chosen for such a gift.”
