Taking Ownership PDX Reflects on Black History & Homeownership at Black Friday Event

Last month, Taking Ownership PDX had the privilege of being part of the Black Friday, 2024: Film, Conversation, Innovation event at the Hollywood Theater. The event, centered around the theme of "home”, explored pivotal aspects of Black community history in Portland. By viewing two powerful films, attendees learned about the rich cultural contributions of Portland’s Black community while celebrating the work of today’s creators and activists who continue to amplify stories of Black achievement.

Taking Ownership PDX’s founder, Randal Wyatt, had the honor of sitting on a panel at the event. It was an impactful conversation that highlighted the ongoing challenges and solutions surrounding Black homeownership and the fight against displacement in Portland. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such an important dialogue and look forward to continuing our mission of restoring, revitalizing, and supporting Black-owned homes and businesses.
