Collaborating for Energy Efficiency

Following last month's Earth Day (April 22), we wanted to share some of the impactful work Taking Ownership PDX is doing in the realm of sustainability and community empowerment! One focus for us this year is to implement more green building and renewable energy resources and initiatives in our projects.

Partnerships for Sustainability

We are excited to announce a new partnership with the Energy Trust of Oregon, working with them towards qualifying for energy-efficient rebates on appliances and energy initiatives we can apply to our home projects. We are also working with them to assess the work we currently do to better strategically plan for and optimize our efforts to support energy efficiency in other aspects of our work.

We're also proud to announce our partnership with Constructing Hope, an Oregon-based program focused on training pre-apprenticeship graduates in energy-efficient installations. This collaboration not only supports our sustainability goals but also empowers minority communities to contribute meaningfully to the success of Black homeownership initiatives within their own community.

We look forward to sharing more in the coming months about our efforts and partnerships in sustainability.

Honoring Our Volunteers

We also want to share a special event that took place in March, where we organized a volunteer appreciation event to honor the dedication of some of our core volunteers. It was a fun occasion where we had the privilege of getting together and treating our volunteers to a memorable experience watching the Portland Trail Blazers.

Donating to Taking Ownership PDX

We encourage you to join us in helping implement a more sustainable future for Black homeowners. You can make a difference by making financial donations via our website, to support our ongoing efforts to create positive change.

Thank you for being a part of the Taking Ownership PDX community and for your continued support in our journey toward a greener, more equitable world.

Sincerely,
Randal Wyatt
Founder of Taking Ownership PDX
