Revamping a Homeowner’s Deck in North Portland

At Taking Ownership PDX, we strive to ensure that every home provides safety, comfort, and pride for its residents. Our recent deck remodel project in North Portland exemplifies this mission by transforming an unsafe outdoor space into a beautiful and functional area.

The homeowner lived with concerns about her deck, which posed a serious safety risk.

Randal Wyatt, founder of Taking Ownership PDX, shared, “Her deck was extremely unsafe to stand on. We worked with a locally Black-owned construction company called Johnson Construction NW, who completely restructured it to make it sturdy, safe, and aesthetically satisfying to the homeowner.”

The project involved a complete overhaul of the deck, enhancing both its structural integrity and visual appeal. Johnson Construction NW’s skilled team ensured the new deck met safety standards while reflecting the homeowner’s personal style, creating a spacious and inviting outdoor area.

This deck remodel not only improves safety but also aligns with our commitment to empowering Black homeowners. By partnering with local, Black-owned businesses, we aim to uplift the community and support a thriving local economy.
