Holiday Adoption Drive

Each year around the holidays Taking Ownership PDX "adopts" several families who have been referred to us through various community programs. What started as a way to perk up someone's holiday with a few gifts, quickly snowballed into a seasonal support system.

While asking families for gift ideas, we often get requests for household items and necessities, more so than wants and presents. This has allowed us to create a program where we can help families begin the new year with a strong start.

Here's how it works:

Taking Ownership PDX has received a list from each family, and volunteers sign up for items that they would like to contribute. We will take care of wrapping them up and delivering them on Christmas Eve.

This year we are honored to be supporting two families. One family has twins on the way, and the other family is still in the recovery stage following an unexpected death in the family that resulted in the children moving in with their grandmother.

Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of these families.
